Welcome to The Great Con-Junction 2025, a two-day official Dark Crystal Convention - PLUS Film Screening and evening Podling Party.

By Air
Heathrow 30 miles, Luton is 20 miles & Gatwick is 60 miles from the venue.

Train

Fast service from central London (Farringdon and Kings Cross St. Pancras) to Elstree and Borehamwood Station via Thameslink. Plan your journey and find out more here.

 

By Car

Nearby links with motorways, M1 (junction 6A), M25 (junction 23) A1 (1 mile), giving easy access to all parts of the country, airports and cross-channel routes to Europe.

Tickets​ Information

Do I have to buy tickets in advance? 

We would recommend that you buy tickets in advance as they are EXTREMELY limited and may sell out before the event date. 

​

How are my tickets delivered? 

All of our tickets are e-tickets. 

 

Do I need to print tickets? 

No, we are trying to reduce waste! As long as we can scan your ticket on a phone or tablet. 

 

I can no longer attend the Great Con-Junction, can I get a refund?

No, all tickets are non-refundable.  

​

Are tickets transferable? 

No - you cannot give or sell your ticket to another person. You may be asked for ID upon entry, if the name on the ticket does not match your ID you may be denied entry. This is not applicable for children under the age of 16 if accompanied by the lead booker.

How do I get tickets?

Do I need to bring ID?

Yes, please bring photo ID as you may be asked to show this on entry, especially if you have purchased a high value ticket.

Attractions

 

Costume/Cosplay 


Can I attend the event in costume/cosplay? 

YES please! we actively encourage it, however you don't have to if you would rather not. Check out our gallery for inspiration.

Do you have any rules about costumes, weapons, and props? 

This is a family friendly event so your costume must be appropriate i.e. no nudity etc. You are not permitted to bring real weapons, fake weapons will be checked by our staff. If we feel that your props could cause damage to another individual, then it will not be allowed into the event.. 

​

Will there be a Cosplay/ Creature showcase? 

Yes! 

​

Can I participate on both days?

Yes. ​ 

​

Do I need to bring/show a portfolio for the showcase?

No, you don't have to but you are very welcome to! ​​ ​

Panel Talks & Workshops​

​​

What is a Panel talk?

A panel talk, sometimes referred to as a Q & A is an activity where you can sit and listen to our special guests talks about subjects such as writing/producing, behind the scenes, the artistic process etc. Panel talks are in included in all ticket packages. 

​

What is a workshop? 

A workshop is an activity where you will have the chance to learn something from our experts and special VIP guests, and in some cases have a go at doing a particular skill. Workshops are not included in any ticket packages and must be purchased separately. Workshops will be announced closer to the event date. 

​

Can I take pictures or record in Talks & Workshops?

We would love for you to take LOTS of photos and we encourage you to upload them to social media with the hashtags #thegreatconjunction and #darkcrystal but no filming or recording please. If you are found to be recording you may be asked to leave the event all together. 

​

Opening/Closing Ceremony

​

What is the opening/closing ceremony? 

Both theatre style activities (like a panel talk) to open and close the event. There may be surprises and interactive elements but participation is not mandatory. 

​

Do I have to purchase a ticket to the opening/closing ceremony? 

Yes, unless you purchase an Aughra or Thra Pass. Opening and closing ceremony is included in both.

Special Guests

​

When will guests be announced? 

We announce guests as soon as we have official confirmation. Guests can be announced at any point up to the day of the event. We announce special guests on our Facebook page first and then they are added to our website.

​

How do I meet the celebrity guests? 

When a guest is not having a break, doing a talk, or a photoshoot they will be sat at their 'signing' table and you can approach them for an autograph, selfie or just a chat. If you are feeling a bit shy/don’t know what to say, just let one of our friendly crew know and they will be happy to chaperone you. Event schedule will be posted 2 weeks before the event.

Can I make a guest request/suggestion?

Yes! Please message us on Facebook or email us at admin@thamescon.com

Please be aware that guests attend subject to work comments. If a guest has to cancel their appearance, we will announce this on our Facebook page and update it on this site as soon as we know. 

​

Autographs & Photoshoots​

​

Can I take a selfie with my favourite guest? 

Most of our guests are happy for you to take selfies with them. Some will be charging for this. Information will be published on the ‘Guest’ page as Guests are announced.  

​

How do I pay for Autographs and selfies?

You pay for these on the day at the guests signing table. Guests will mostly be accepting cash and some may also accept card. ​

​

Do you accept 'send ins'?

Yes - more information will be published about this nearer the time. 

​

 

Podling Party

 

What is the Podling Party?

The Podling Party is a chance to party like a podling with music, dancing, themed drinks,  live music, VIPs & more!

Saturday February 8th 7:45pm - 11:30pm 

 

Is there a dress code?

We would love to see you in your best Dark Crystal Cosplay or Podling themed finest but do not feel that you need to dress up. 

 

Can I bring my own Food/Drink?

No, there will be snacks as well as themed drinks available to buy on site. Free self service water will be available. Please note bringing your own alcohol into the party is strictly prohibited as this will void the venue’s licence. Anyone found bringing alcohol into the venue will have it confiscated and will be removed from the event.  
 

Is there somewhere to get changed?

No, there are no changing rooms onsite. 

 

Is there a carers pass for The Podling Party?

No, unfortunately as we have very limited space we are unable to offer a discounted/free carers pass to the Podling Party. 

 

Are children allowed to attend The Podling Party?

The Podling party is aimed at adults but children are most welcome.  

 

Is there a cloak room?

Yes, the venue is proving a cloak room and will charge £2 per hanger, and accepts card only.

Please note there will be no room for suitcases in the cloak room. If needed your hotel will be able to hold your case for you while at the event.

Will the events have security?

Yes

Will my bag be checked before I enter the event?

Yes, security may perform bag searches at any time.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

You can bring your own bottled water, but please do not bring any other food and drinks into the event. There will be plenty of food and drink available to buy on site and in the surrounding area. Free water will be available.

Is this event suitable for children?

The Great Con-Junction is suitable for children but please note that there will not be any activities specifically for children.

​

What's for lunch?

Will there be Merchandise?

Yes! There will be plenty of merchandise​.

​

Will I be filmed and photographed at the Convention/Party? 

Potentially yes. Our Media team will be taking photos and filming throughout the weekend, and it is within the terms and conditions of your attendance that you may be filmed. If you do not want to be filmed or photographed, you must let one of our Media team know as soon as you get to the event. 

 

Can I take my own videos and photographs on the convention floor? 

Yes. Please do ask permission first from anyone you would like to video or photograph and respect their wishes if they decline. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #greatconjunction and #darkcrystal if you upload to social media.

Am I allowed to bring in professional photographic equipment? 

No. 

 

Can I bring my Carer?

Yes,  you can bring your carer to the Day time events on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th, you need to ensure you have bought a carer pass when you buy your tickets. Please ensure you have some form of Carer ID  with you at the event as we may check this on arrival. 
 

Can I bring my dog? 

No. Guide dogs/Service dogs are permitted but please pre register them in your name by contacting admin@thamescon.com with the name of the ticket holder/owner, what the service dog is required for and any relevant documents. Feel free to send a picture of your dog as well, our admin would love to see them. 

 

Lost Property

We will do our best to reunite you with any lost property from our event but we cannot guarantee you will get your item back. 

 

Is there a cloak room?

Yes, the cloak room will charge £2 per hanger, and accepts card only.
